BP confirms it will deploy Ocean Therapy's solution to assist in the clean up process in the Gulf of Mexico.

It was announced a few weeks ago that BP was considering using the centrifuge technology developed by Ocean Therapy Solutions. Today, the company announced it will move forward with the solution and will begin soon deploying the solution proposed by the Kevin Costner-backed company.

BP has acquired 32 of the rotation devices after testing them to see if they could handle the crude pouring from the sunken Deepwater Horizon rig.

The centrifuges are expected to be working soon. Each can separate 210,000 gallons of oily water a day. "My dream, this machine, was designed to give us a fighting chance to fight back the oil that's got us by the throat," said Costner.

Last week BP boss Tony Hayward had a difficult conversation with US President Barack Obama and US Congressmen, having to justify not only the lack of security at the Deepwater Horizon, but also the lack of effective action taken by the company following the disaster.

An internal BP document published by British Press estimates a worst-case scenario for the spill of 100,000 barrels a day. The government estimates 60,000.
